I like to quote people but it's usually people that are scientists, artists or writers. And usually I will get comments on said quotes. I had someone recently call me "He who quotes Einstein like Frost" I thought that was cute. I do like people that are abstract and logical at the same time. It's thinking outside of the box that has built this world.I could say that Einstein was a great man, and he was, but so was Oppenheimer. If you don't know who he was, J.Robert Oppenheimer was an American physicist and the "Father of the Atomic Bomb". Was he a great mind or a mass murderer?
Do you know what he said? "I am become death, the destroyer of worlds." Now before you jump to conclusions...Einstein warned President Franklin D. Roosevelt that Germany might be developing an atomic weapon, and recommended that the U.S. begin similar research.
So let's skip to my real point. I quote great minds but they come in all forms. Everyone has eloquent or witty moments. I recently quoted a famous serial killer on facebook.
Quotable, maybe not, but if they are then the person saying such pearls of wisdom should not be under scrutiny. I have seen people quote songs, artists or works of literature (fact or fiction). It relates to them. So lets perform an experiment-Whoever reads this- Please post or tweet or whatever you do that gains public noteriety, something by someone that is, I won't say disreputable, but someone that is not known for their brilliance. But not the name of the person, than a famous person's quote that is not that poignant and see if anyone can tell the difference.
I will leave you with a couple of quotes:
A man does what he must - in spite of personal consequences, in spite of obstacles and dangers and pressures - and that is the basis of all human morality.
As a Christian I have no duty to allow myself to be cheated, but I have the duty to be a fighter for truth and justice.
Two men, common enemies-who was right and who wrong?

Suspension of Disbelief in Everyday Life
When I was growing up I watched a lot of cartoons. My dad actually once said I could tell the name of a Warner Brothers or Tom and Jerry cartoon just by the music. Some part of that is slightly true. These cartoons do bring me to my point of tonight's discussion, suspension of disbelief.
If you are not familiar with this term it means- suspending judgement concerning the implausibility of the narrative, as coined by Samuel Taylor Coleridge.
Like the identity of Superman: How the Hell can you not know it's Clark Kent it's only a stupid pair of glasses. But for Lois and Jimmy, totally oblivious. And thank God for that or else everyone would have a photo of Superman taking a glowing kryptonian crap.
This leads to more questionable workings of this theory...Superman talks about Clark Kent in third person. Superman is a liar and believes his lies.
Anyway I'm not a Superman fan. I laughed when Lobo flew to the "Fortress of Solitude" and hammered his face into spaghetti. HA!
Back to the main point, suspension of disbelief is in everything: movies, television and esp. cartoons. But for me it taught me about dreams and how they don't come true. If you jump from a plane, you had better have a parachute...or else, splat! No coming back. That could also have been in physics class. Oh yeah, it taught me if you hit someone they feel it and it could possibly injure them. Actions have repercussions, but alas too late. Suspending disbelief does not suspend the truth and no matter how bad you want to believe the lies...what they are is still what they are.
Density is one of my faults, not as far as mass, but as far as words and meanings permeating the skull and getting understood. I once asked to look at the world with childlike amusement and I think it was granted to me. I took things for face value, I trusted people and actions didn't seem to have consequences. I said things to people because I thought I could be honest. I thought I could help people by giving motivational advice. I was wrong! I suspended my disbelif in hurting people and taking people for granted.
I have been lied to recently and for some reason that got through to me quicker than anything that was said in so many years, because it was something I didn't want to hear. I had suspended my disbelief of things being wrong. I was Mister In-Between (that's a Bing Crosby reference, don't make me pull out a sack of sweet Valencia oranges), not accentuating the positive, dwelling on the negative and keeping myself in the dark and affecting everyone around me. Not hard to say it-
Words have meanings, people have feelings and actions have consequences.

Humanity vs Satanic Manipulation
Looking on another social site, one of my friends (believe it or not)posted something and the topic of discussion was humanity in movies. The movie scene being discussed was in a 1982 Ridley Scott movie starring Harrison Ford...any guesses?
The discussion- why it's so important to have honor and nobility and faith in humanity that they will see the light and the truth.
Granted there were several lessons in this scene:being a slave to emotions, living in fear and remembering the past cause your memories are fleeting and don't really matter anyway because one day you will die!
Well, what I gathered from this scene was that in the end everyone wants the same thing- redemption. I tried to kill you but I also found your car keys when you were leaving me so that counts for something. Not usually the case.
The END is the part that has to occur, if you are fine and dandy then you will sell your soul just to be happy. And happiness is way overrated! Let's take another movie from 1991 by author Stephen King and starring Max Von Sydow, he played Jesus...wait that was another movie. In this he plays the Devil and sells trinkets to small town patrons, who in turn do wicked things to other people who live in the town.
I think this is more of a tribute to human nature. We have a thing, person or material possession in our mind that we "want" and change ourselves to obtain this goal and in the process lose our minds and change ourselves beyond recognition. So that we become the product of fear and emotional turmoil until the End when we want redemption and salvation through forgivness and contemplation. Get on the bus to Beelzebub and throw apples or make apple jack.
Now I am not a religious man. There are certain things that I like to do research on: virtues, sin and theological figures...along with Elder Gods who do cameo appearances in music and television....anyway! Life is ours to do with as we will, we don't know when we will die but we do know that we aren't immortal...
Smoke 'em if you got 'em!

New Year, New You and Who Knew....
Well, it's no surprise. I woke up this morning dwelling on the past, mainly the night before. Some people may think I am still caught up like a fat kid trying to jump a fence, nope. No atomic thunder chickens here folks. I found out new things, got new hope and still there was the underlying problem of dain bramage and neden games. But it's 2011 actually 1-1-11, nice, that's like looking at the clock and making a wish. Wishful thinking is a bunch of hooey. I mean it's like a nightlight keeping the monster in your closet. For real, make a wish that I come over there and slap you with a herring...am I there yet?
Cat's and kittens life is not a saucer full of anti-freeze it's much, much worse. It's like the hero dying right when he thinks he's beaten the villan and come to find out the bastard has on a bulletproof vest. Or like when an author makes a corny analogy and turns out just to suck....hey!
I talked it over with myself, a few friends and a fifth of 103 proof whiskey, the liquor part was shared (sparingly), tears were shed and a pressed fruitbowl was admired by all, along with a furry gordita and lots of farting. I digest!
I am not giving advice, Hell I usually don't take what I'm given. right now I am holding on to pertinent information, that I am going to keep until I have to use in a way that's funny. Be careful what you say to one person in confidence they might tell the one you don't want to know. Also, lying is not an art, it's not story telling. You aren't sending a script to a big budget Paramount producer. What the fudge, children? I went this whole time swallowing equal parts disgust and pride!
Not to sound snarky but I am going to hold my tongue in someone's best intentions. I am officially boycotting the douchebaggery. Whore-moan-al or not I don't give a skinamax handy J. And what I mean by that is: it may look like we are going through the motions but in actuality, nothing is really happening and both(at least one)of us are going to walk away feeling stupid. Just saying...
I am still carrying a can of petrol and a box of strike em's. There are bridges to burn, knickers to soak and hearts to break. And keep my hands to yourself.
But I will leave on a good note---b sharp!
